What is the youngest age you can start training from?
The youngest age children can start training with us is 4. Children develop at different times, some 4 year olds will be ready some won’t! We encourage all parents to bring their child to our Saturday Development class to see how they get on.
Is the training indoors or outdoors and what does my child need to bring?
The majority of our classes take place outside on our fantastic 3G facility (Sutton United FC, Gander Green Lane, SM1 2EY. We ask that children bring the following:
Suitable footwear (Astroturfs or moulded boots)
Suitable football clothing (Weather dependant)
Plenty of liquids
What will you teach my child?
We run different classes to help cater for all different children’s ages/ability. With the younger children we will aim to improve and build their basic footballing ability. How to shoot, pass, defend, attack, dribble and improve their speed and coordination, A child needs to establish a foundation of understanding and experience before they can move on to the more challenging techniques. Once the children get old We offer training for all right up to elite players but all players need to start with the absolute basics.
How does my child join a team?
We are able to find teams for players from U7 – U18. However joining a team is not for everyone, we only have a certain number of spaces in each team and not every child is ready to play competitive football straight away. We recommend continuing with our professional coaching and training until your child is ready to join a team. Once your child is ready we will be more than happy to help ensure your child finds a team to suit their needs/ability
How does my child get a trial with a professional club?
JDFS have had over 10 players signed to profesional clubs within the last year. However it is very difficult for a player to get signed to an academy with a professional contract. We will only send children in for trials if we genuinely believe they have a good chance of signing. We have strong links with Crystal Palace as well as AFC Wimbledon, Brighton & Fulham.
Are your coaches CRB checked?
Yes! All coaches are CRB checked by JDFS & Sutton United.
What is your link with Sutton United?
Sutton United has one of the best junior set ups across London & Surrey. We are very lucky to be in partnership with the club and each year are asked to put together two U7 teams providing players and identifying parent mangers to run the new teams. We also help filter children in to Sutton teams at all different ages through our Elite/Development class.
Do you do football camps, Birthday Parties and 1-1 training?
Yes to all three! More information can be obtained via the homepage on this website. We have a Holiday Camp page, Birthday Parties page and a 1-1 training page.
Are there toilets, changing rooms and car parking?
Yes to all. Ideally we do ask that children arrive ready to play to help save playing time.
Do you coach in schools?
Yes we do coach in schools. We currently provide PPA, Breakfast/Afterschool clubs at 8 primary schools in and around the surrey/south London area. However we’d love to coach in more, we offer a great service so it would be great if you could recommend us to the school’s PE coordinator or head teacher.
